At 3:00 PM Beijing time on April 2, 2024, the first online preparatory meeting of the 2026 International Weighing Conference Organizing Committee was held. The organizations that attended this online meeting included the European Weighing Association (CECIP), the China Weighing Instrument Association (CWIA), the Japan Measuring Instruments Federation (JMIF), the International Organization of Legal Metrology (OIML), and the Weighing Industry Association of Australia (WIAA).
The meeting began with an introduction by the Japan Measuring Instruments Federation, the host of the 2026 International Weighing Conference, detailing their preparation work. Based on the experience of the previous International Weighing Conference, specific preparation topics, budget, and participants for this conference were discussed.
The following key decisions were made during the organizing committee meeting:
The 2026 International Weighing Conference will be held from June 8 to June 10, 2026, at the Kitakyushu International Conference Center in Kitakyushu, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan.
Poster presentations will be included in the conference format.
Weighing associations or organizations from Africa and India will be included in the organizing committee.
The organizing committee will establish four subcommittees: Finance, Marketing, Logistics and Operations, and Program Planning.
The 2026 International Weighing Conference plans to have 250 participants.
The second online preparatory meeting of the organizing committee will be held on June 21, 2024, Beijing time.
The next meeting will discuss the following topics:
Establishment of the Finance, Marketing, Logistics and Operations, and Program Planning subcommittees.
The addition of the Logistics and Operations subcommittee to facilitate the work of other subcommittees (the previous conference had three subcommittees: Finance, Marketing, and Program Planning).
Volunteers who wish to join subcommittees will be assigned to different committee meetings for group discussions.
After the next meeting, participants will share presentations and meeting minutes.
The first International Weighing Conference was successfully held in Hamburg, Germany, in April 2023, with 220 delegates in attendance. The conference featured 70 presentations, including speakers from India and Africa. After discussion, it was decided that the 2026 International Weighing Conference would be held in Japan.
